WELCOME TO FIRST GRADE

MRS. COLLING'S EXPECTATIONS

I expect my students to follow the rules that have been set for our school.

in the classroom, which are as follows:

1.  Be Safe
2.  Be Respectful
3.  Be Responsible

I use Above the Line/Below the Line and Bottom Line behavior management system. The goal is to teach children to be responsible for their own behavior. When rules are broken students will have the opportunity to "fix it" or take the "consequence".  This seems to work nicely.  We also practice correct behavior. Through practicing correct behavior students learn what I expect and they remember it, since practicing isn't always that fun.

Student planners will be sent home every day in the K.I.D. Binder and returned the next day.  Items missed on papers or assessments are things you can be working on at home to help your child.  I will also send vocabulary sheets home once we start our reading books or weekly words may be written in student planners as well as comment from teachers.

Please take a minute to look through your child˙s backpack each day, and empty it, many times there may be a note from school or an activity to do at home.  Talk about the papers, actually, let them do the talking.

Review student planners, there may be a note as to what your child needs to work on in school or an accomplishment that was made, your help can only benefit their learning.

Tattling can be a problem, my rule is you can only tattle if someone is :
1.  Hurting you
2.  Hurting property

With all subjects taught, there may be an activity in class, or a worksheet, we learn new things everyday so attendance is important.

Please do not send birthday invitations to school for your child to pass out in the classroom.

Please return enclosed treat sheet if you would be able to furnish treats/drinks/supplies for any activities.  Room mothers will contact you.

Let's have a great year!

Mrs. Colling
