GCO Meeting Minutes
Monday November 13, 2006
 
 
Members Present:  Jeana Pineda, Mark Johnson, Shelly Elstermeier, Billie Jo Irving, Brenna Bergstrom, Donna Biddle, Amy Lowery,  Judy Meyer, Tammy McLaughlin, Annette Kirchhoff, Sara Waddel, Michele Friesen,  Eileen King, Annette Colling, Jan Jamison, Cathy Maciejewski, Kayla James, Angie Foss, April Becker, Annette Bradley, Wyatt Hoback
 
Introductions and Thank Yous: Introductions were made and Thanks you cards shared.
 
Minutes were read and approved by Donna Biddle and 2nd by Billie Jo Irving
 
Treasurer≠s Report: April Becker moved to approve the Treasurer≠s Report of $12,625.27, Billie Jo 2nd.  Audit for the 05-06 year was passed out; an error was found and corrected for the December School Board meeting.
 
Superintendent Report:  Wyatt brought up the following issues: 1. The Police Officer for the High School signed a 3yr commitment. Split 50/50 with School /Community. 2. All Kearney Public Schools will go to a single door entry point. 3. Safety street crossing  4. Exercise for students UNK would like parent groups to take over. 5. Extra space and bond issues were mentioned.
 
Principal≠s Report: American Ed week √ have a speaker coming daily. NE students are collecting school supplies for Iraqi children; Mrs. Stoppkotte will be the school contact.
Rewarding children who do the right thing. Golden Shoe award and the Golden Broom award are in process. The Golden shoe is for quiet shoes in the hall and Golden Broom is for the cleanest classroom. We will be receiving a grant for positive behavior support in the amount of $3,000 to be used in staff development.
Family Directory was brought up to have them issued again this year. Teacher≠s wish list were looked through and tabled until next meeting.
 
New Business: A new committee to prepare treats for teachers during Parent-Teacher conference separate from Teacher Appreciation. Playground equipment has been looked at and purchased; soon also we will be purchasing a new refrigerator for the staff room. Annette Colling presented Relay for Life. June of 07 is the date, mark your calendar≠s.
 
 
Old Business: SAVE SUNMART  RECEIPTS: We are very close. We have $147,457.29
and we need $150,000. Bring your store coupons to the office!!! We will receive $1000.00.
Spaghetti Supper √ list of idea≠s and vote for next year. Book Fair earned 1,000.00 in books; we also earned extra money to buy a cash register.
 
With no other business, meeting adjourned. Next meeting January 8th, 2007 at 7:00pm.
