Classroom Check-out System

Starting this November, your child will be able to check out books from our classroom that are at his/her guided reading level.  At conferences I spoke briefly about these reading levels (A, B, C....I) and may have shown you the baskets on the shelf where I keep these books.
Each day, your child will have the opportunity to pick out a book from his/her basket and take it home.  The next day, your child can do this again, as long as the book from the previous day has been returned!  I will have a sign in/sign out sheet available for the students to use, and I will be monitoring this every few days.  Your child is welcome to keep a book for several days, but if the book is not returned in a timely manner, I will send a note home.  If the book cannot be found or is returned in poor condition, I will ask for a $4.00 replacement fee.  I trust that my students will be responsible with my books and return them without any trouble.
If for some reason you would rather not have your child participate in this classroom checkout system, please visit with your child about it and explain to them that he/she is not supposed to take books home.
