Books for the Month

books:

Let's Read!

Every child is different.  Some, at  the end of kindergarten, may be reading  simple books by themselves.  Others may be reading simple words, like names and high frequency words.  No matter where your child may be at this point, one of the most important things you can be doing as a parent is reading to your child.
Parents are role models, whether we know it or not.  Our childrens actions and words are modeled after what they see and hear their parents doing or saying.  If your child sees you reading the newspaper or a magazine, your child gets the impression that information is gained through reading.  If your child sees you reading a novel or a silly email from a friend, your child understands that reading can mean enjoyment.  By taking a few minutes each day to sit down and read with your child, you are modeling phrasing, voice inflection, and the importance of reading!
