Dear Parents,
It is always
exciting to start the new year. We are looking forward to having
the opportunity to have your child this year in second grade. We
are sure the year will fly by quickly. Since we only have your child a
short time, we hope to have a positive impact on his or her life.
We believe that we must begin by making your child feel at home in our
classrooms. Our beliefs are to provide a warm and helpful
learning environment for all students.
Kearney
Public Schools has a strong emphasis in Spelling and Phonics with our
Reading/Language program. We are starting a new reading series this year with lots of new and interesting ideas. We know our students will really enjoy all the new stories. Phonics instruction is
incorporated into each week's lessons. Math is always new and different as we become more fluent at addition and subtraction, telling time, and counting our coins. So many things that you will be amazed at seeing your child do at home.
