Meet Your Teacher From HAL
Hello! My name is Mary Alice Konz, and I am the High Ability Learner English teacher at Horizon and Sunrise Middle Schools, as well as the forensics coach at Kearney High School. I am very excited to have you in my class. Together we will learn a lot.
You might want to know a little about me. I have taught school for twenty-eight years. My students in both Nebraska and Colorado have ranged from middle school through college-age. My bachelor's and master's degrees are in English education, and special areas of interest include Spanish, speech, theatre, and journalism. I completed my teaching endorsement in gifted education at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
I enjoy being a lifelong learner and will encourage you to develop this philosophy, too. In addition to teaching, I've been a motivational speaker and even a police officer, having earned certification from the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center in December, 2000. These experiences help me bring a unique perspective to the classroom. The seven years I've spent teaching HAL have been some of my happiest and most fulfilling years in education ever, thanks to students like you!
My hobbies are running, reading, biking, golf, hiking, motorcycling, and theatre. I look forward to learning all about you and your hobbies, too! We will have three terrific years to grow together. Welcome to HAL!
Contact me at: 698-8136 (Horizon ) from 8-11:30 a.m. 698-8173 (Sunrise) from 12:00-4 p.m.
