The practice of the freedom of speech is not exactly a simple one. It is not just being able to say what you want when you want to. It also means being able to accept what others say, and not interrupt them. For example, all of us practice this freedom daily, but do we allow others around us to practice it also? When you are sitting at the lunch table with your friends, and someone says something like, "Hey, I went to see that new movie yesterday." You respond with, "That movie is so stupid, I don't even want to hear about it. " That is an example of not practicing the freedom of speech correctly. In order to fully obey this right, we need to let others speak their minds, also.

After the revolution our founding fathers wrote the Constitution, and that is what our country is based on today. This important document states that all people are created equal and that we all have the freedom of speech, the right to a quality education, and the freedom to worship freely.
Finally, if your freedom of speech were suddenly taken awaym many other things would be taken away also besides your right to say what you want. Suddenly there would be no telephone, Internet, or television. You're luckier than you may realize. All of these things that we take for granted weuld suddenly be gone. That's why we all need to learn to appreciate what we have, good or bad, because I know I would sure miss chatting on the Internet with my friends!
