Remember: All homework should either be typed or be done in blue or black pen, with the correct paper heading on the first line at the left: ACTIVITIES FOR THE WEEK OF October 6,, 2008 ALL CLASSES Welcome to the favorite unit of most HAL students: Speech! Yippeeeeeee!!!!!! This week you will will complete character analysis sheets if you are in an individual or group interp. Interp folks: you will have all lines highlighted and marked for rate, volume, pitch, and tone. We will watch one speech a day from the final round of the national tournament. Platform speakers will compile 5 sources on their topic, highlight facts to include, and begin to organize the speech into three main points. By Monday of next week platform speakers should have a rough draft of their speech, and interp speakers should have begun to memorize lines. OUR HAL "HARVEST OF ELOQUENCE SPEECH FESTIVAL" WILL BE TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21ST, AT 6 P.M. AT SUNRISE. IT WILL ALSO INVOLVE HORIZON HAL STUDENTS. DRESS WILL BE PROFESSIONAL ATTIRE OR CHURCH CLOTHES, meaning dress slacks or skirt, tailored shirt or blouse, dark shoes. Ladies should wear hose or knee-highs and have their hair BACK from their faces. Gentlemen; don't forget to wear dark socks and a tie. You do not have to spend a lot of money to dress for this event. Many high school and college speech teams find gorgeous, brand-new suits and shoes at Goodwill for next to nothing. Try it! It works! ADMISSION IS $2.00 PER SPECTATOR. PROCEEDS BENEFIT THE 8TH GRADE HAL THEATRE FIELD TRIP TO SEE A PROFESSIONAL SHOW.
